Weekend with the Toddler

Last Saturday, my sister went on a baking class and asked if I can babysit ze toddler with ate Ana. Of course I said yes! This baby ain't a baby anymore. She's all grown up! Here's some photos of my babysitting skit.

After lunch, we were playing on the sofa. For some reason, little K liked my purse, she keeps closing and opening it.

Look what's she's doing, playing with auntie's foot! =)

She seriously carried my foot and put it on her lap. Haha!

Little K had these cute Mcdonald's Happy Meal toys.

Look at that baby play! =)

SIGH, I feel old. Haha But boy do I love this kid! <3

Are you ready for Aerosmith?

Ladies, are you ready for this? God has finally answered your prayers because American rock band Aerosmith is FINALLY coming to the Philippines for its first ever concert here.

For those of you who do not know such classics as Walk this Way, Dream On, Crazy, Jaded or even the ridiculously famous Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, I don't know what rock you've been living under all these years.

You see I've been given an Aerosmith-education by Yans, who has a serious HUGE crush on vocalist, Steve Tyler (trivia: She named her new puppy "Tyler" for obvious fan girl reasons). Anyway, there really is a God because the Philippines is going to be part of the band's Global Warming World Tour!

DYI Time: Cheese French Toast

Okay, so we did this a few months back and I thought I'd share it with you guys. My own DYI tutorial yay! For this one, you'll be learning the basics of a poor man's Cheese French Toast. Sounds all sosyal and difficult to prepare, eh? Trust me it's not. =) But it sure as hell as delish!

The Ingredients:
Bread of course (we like ours the loaf kind)
Cheese (just the regular kind you use for spaghetti. No complaints here!)
Butter
Mixture of milk and egg

Whisk the egg in a bowl and add milk until you get this mixture. Slowly dip bread into the mixture.

Heat your pan (or in our case, wok) and put some butter. Place your bread on the pan and add sliced cheese on top. Allow to melt and flip to the other side. (I like my toast a bit moist, not dry. So I flip them before they go dry.)

Voila! Our impromptu breakfast, made from whatever was available in the cupboard. Not bad eh? Just add some spam and scrambled eggs and you're in for a delicious breakfast! Yum! =) Until our next DYI project!

Pig Out: Silantro

Okay so this restaurant/cantina has been around for a while, and friend, Yans has been badgering me about trying it out. Well finally yesterday, I gave in. And boy was that a good decision!

Silantro is a Mex-Fil cantina, which based on signs posted all over the place, is still on soft opening. But man were they packed! All the tables inside were occupied when I got there. Good thing Yans was there ahead of me and got us a table! After we gave our orders I went about the room and took photos. Check out this delicious-looking ingredients bar.

For starters, Yans ordered some Nachos. I was hesitant at first because the nachos looked extra yellowy, but boy was I wrong! The cheese-gucamole sauce was delish. And, the beef bits (read: bits not ground beef) were tasty! Our forever favorite Nachos are from Jalapeno in Home Depot, but this one easily gives them a run for their money!

I got the big ass Silantro Burrito, which I had to share with Yans. It was heavy and super yummy! It came with guacamole and sour cream sauce. The guacamole I liked very much, while the sour cream not too much, it more cream and not enough sour enough for me. The mexican rice inside the burrito was very tasty and the beef bits tender. Yum!

Yans got the Silantro Volcano Sisig, which I thought owing to its name was spicy. Turns out it wasn't. But we weren't dissapointed. It was good!

All in all it was a great restaurant! The servers were very attentive, the food was great and reasonably priced. We were so stuffed for P420! I mean come on, that's a great deal. We'll definitely come back for more! You should try it out too!

Pig Out: Cyma

Last Saturday I was craving for some good salad, luckily my wish came true! Had late lunch at Cyma EDSA Shang.

Luckily we went there around merienda time so there weren't a lot of people.

We ordered salad of course! I think we always order the House Salad, so we decided to try a new one. True enough, this Watercress Salad did not disappoint! It had a LOT of fresh watercress, bleu cheese, sweet pears, walnuts, Romaine lettuce, dressed in Cyma's signature summer herb vinaigrette. Yum!

Also this Chicken Souvlakia Souvlaki or Kabobs. The Yogurt Garlic Sauce was yummy and the hot pita bread, delish! =)

For pasta we got Baby Clams Angel Hair, made up of a lot of baby clams, white wine, lemon, parsely, grated parmigiano reggiano and garlic.

I think you know me well enough to know I do not skip dessert. So for glyka, we tried Kataifa, shredded phyllo dough stuffed with walnuts and pistachios, soaked in syrup and served with vanilla ice cream. Nom nom nom!

If you're dining with company, I suggest you order one of each course and share. That way you get to taste everything! =) Will definitely go back for more Greek goodness!

ShareTea Kapitolyo

Last Sunday, Y was in the mood for some milk tea. She swore Wintermelon Milk Tea with Rock Salt and Cheese in ShareTea was divine. Since there was a branch in Ace Water Spa (and she was in the mood for some) we dropped by.

Now I'm not sure how exactly the tea/milk tea craze started (although lately it's starting to die down), but there are practically milk tea shops everywhere.

I used to teach English to Taiwanese students and my students would tell me how popular milk tea is in Taiwan.

Anyway this one is ShareTea and it's pretty neat.

Check out their colorful interiors. I guess I'm luck because whenever I'm here, there's not to many people. So it's a great place to relax, perhaps read a magazine while you rest.
